Building Low-Carbon, Climate-Resilient Cities

as an Essential Element of Global Efforts

At COP16/CMP6  in Cancun in 2010, local governments are recognized as governmental stakeholders. Global and local partners of Local Government Climate Roadmap, Renmin University of China and WRI will demonstrate worldwide progress on low carbon city development and adaptation in particular for cities of the Global South. The event will provide a platform to present:

-          the outcomes of Durban Local Government  Convention convened on 2-4 December,

-          2011 Progress Report of Global Cities Covenant on Climate – the Mexico City Pact

-          2011 Annual Report of carbonn Cities Climate Registry

-          Recent progress in China regarding low-carbon city development and local GHG emissions inventories

-          Latest inputs of local governments in ongoing UNFCCC/KP agenda items
