Global Hand Washing Day
2011/15/19
Global Hand Washing Day, initiated in 2008, is held annually on 15 October and is recognised and promoted globally by a wide range of stakeholders, including local governments.
The day focuses on three main objectives:
- To foster and support a global and local culture of hand washing with soap.
- Highlight the state of hand washing in every country
- Raise awareness of the benefits of hand washing with soap
As such the Global Public-Private Partnership for Hand Washing has developed a brief entitled ‘Making Global Hand Washing Day More Than Just A Day: Governments Take Action’. This document can be found at the official Global Hand Washing Day website, and aims to highlight good practice and the key role government can play in positively influencing hand washing behaviour.
