Funding criteria: Proposals to demonstrate the following:

1. Co-financing from the city, or up-take of the initiative by the city thereafter (i.e. showcasing sustainability of the initiative);

2. Ability to distribute ;lessons learned during the implementation of the program/process/development  across the 5 City Adaptation Network and beyond; (ICLEI will facilitate up-streaming of lessons learned at the regional and international levels, giving best practice)

3. Indication of strategy to ensure sustainability to generate future funds to continue the initiative;

4. Develop a project strategy indicating mechanisms to ensure political buy-in and community buy-in;

5. A timeframe (when they can initiate, time frame for activities);

6. Recognition of local climate champions;

 

Need to demonstrate:

 

a. An increasing in resilience to climate change impacts for all stakeholders;

b. Capacity building at all key stakeholder levels (communities, local researchers, private sector and local government decision makers);

c. A monitoring and evaluation strategy;

d. A budget of how funds will be spent;

e. A strategy for communication and dissemination of lessons learned to increase awareness.

 

Examples of inventions, deliverables:


1. Develop and distribute education and awareness pamphlet that is locally specific to their area
2. Hire a consultant to assist them with policy/strategy development/revision
3. Develop a full proposal (project document) to submit to a large donor funding process
4. To procure GIS/topography or similar strategic equipment/software
5. To send a member of staff on a capaciy building course – there needs to  be clear motivation as to how those skills developed will be used to enhance the city’s resilience
