To facilitate the local-national dialogue and cooperation in the UNFCCC process Mr. Kjeldgaard invited the UN-Troika, consisting of Denmark, Mexico and South Africa, to meet the 'Troika of Mayors' - Mayor Ebrad from Mexico-City, Mayor Mlaba from Durban and himself - in June 2011 in Bonn. In the open exchange, Ms. Friis expressed her appreciation of local government climate action and congratulated the representatives to follow Elvis' principle: A little less conversation, a little more action. She welcomed the local commitment and assured the LG representatives to discuss the issue of a more intensified role for local authorities within the international climate process with the UN-Troika.
