About CCP – Integrated Action

Preparing for the impacts of climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions strike at the core business of councils, and climate change considerations need to be systematically incorporated into local action planning and decision-making.

CCP-IA focuses on two streams of action: climate change mitigation (CCP-Mitigate) and climate change adaptation (CCP-Adapt), and is underpinned by political support and expert climate action advice.

CCP-IA implementation options

Councils can sign up to full-fledged, two-year programs for the CCP-Mitigate and/or CCP-Adapt streams or select individual modules from either stream that fit their specific climate change planning and decision-making needs.

Where councils become involved in both CCP-Mitigate and CCP-Adapt, ICLEI will ensure mitigation and adaptation activities are integrated to maximise effectiveness, align with strategic objectives and avoid maladaptation.

CCP-IA Advisory Committee

The CCP-IA Advisory Committee will be comprised of experts covering various aspects of climate change science, mitigation and adaptation policy and action.

The Committee will oversee the detailed development and delivery of the activities.

Two climate change practitioners from international ICLEI offices will be included on the Committee.
