A structured approach does not suit all councils. ISS offers mentoring packages to develop skill, knowledge and confidence of either individuals, or small teams at council.
The packages cover:
- an appraisal of current sustainability knowledge, skill and confidence level and/or gaps, including a face-to-face meeting
- joint development of a mentoring program to suit the individual/group
- mentoring, which includes reference materials, provision of case examples, contacts in other councils, methodologies and processes for certain situations and circumstances and other support structures as appropriate
- an assessment of the mentoring program.
Mentoring programs are kept concise, and generally run for three to six months.
