About CCP
CCP: A Global Campaign to Slow Earth's Warming Trend and Improve Local Air Quality and Urban Livability
The largest sources of human-generated greenhouse gas emissions come from cities, primarily via vehicular transport and energy use. Consequently, the direct impacts cities can have on advancing climate protection is susbtantial. If effectively harnessed and supported, city-led actions can positively shift the current path of global warming.
Established in 1993, ICLEI's Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) Campaign works with local governments to improve urban management and address economic, environmental and social concerns. In doing so, local governments achieve the side benefits of reducing air pollution, waste, and greenhouse gas emissions.
