Briefing meetings for local government representatives were held every morning  to inform delegates of the status of the negotiations and to plan activities for the day. A series of Briefing Sheets are available to help local government representatives with negotiations and networking.

 

9.30 - 10.30 The potential of Local Renewables - International organisations’ dialogue

Renewable energy is a key energy resource – and its relevance will only increase in the future. Promoting the generation and use of RE at the local level is one of the major contributions of local governments to saving energy and reducing GHG emissions.

Leaders of international organizations working in the field of renewable energy highlighted the pertinence of Local Renewables.

10.30 - 12.30 Climate strategies - Development strategies for cities and regions

In the framework of the Local Government Climate Roadmap, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), the worldwide organisation of local and regional authorities presented some of the key issues for these vital, sub-national, levels of government in climate change actions. Local leaders from around the world explored actions to be undertaken after the Copenhagen Conference.

 

12.30 - 13.00 Time for Real Questions

With Anna Tibaijuka, Executive Director of UN-Habitat

Time for Real Questions is a daily dialogue with Konrad Otto-Zimmermann and global leaders that explores issues shaping the future of our cities and our planet. Information about daily speakers and recordings of the dialogues can be accessed here.

15.00 - 18.00 Networking event for European Green Capital Award finalists - VENUE CHANGED

This event was held at Njalsgaarden, Njalsgade 13, 2300 Copenhagen. 

It was organized by the European Commission.

The event served as a meeting of European Green Capital finalists in order to report on recent environmental developments in their respective cities, explore areas for future cooperation and exchange best practices and experiences.

At the beginning of the meeting, the City of Münster handed over the 3000 signatures of their Climate Pact to David Cadman, Vancouver Councillor and president of ICLEI. For further information, you may download the Case Story of Münster.

18.00 - 20.00 Climate Negotiations: LGs Analysis - VENUE CHANGED

This event will be held at the Center for Miljo, Kalvebod Brygge 45, 1560 Copenhagen.
