Briefing meetings for local government representatives will be held every morning  to inform delegates of the status of the negotiations and to plan activities for the day. A series of Briefing Sheets are available to help local government representatives with negotiations and networking.

 

10.30 - 11.30 US Cities and Counties Climate Action Programs

This event was organised by ICLEI USA.

ICLEI USA released the new report, “Measuring Up” which catalogues the emissions reductions targets and climate action progress of hundreds of US local governments. It is available here.

11.30 - 12.30 Earth Day Network: Earth Day 2010


This event is organized by the Earth Day Network

Earth Day Network will announce the Global Day of Conversation, a partnership with over 500 mayors for Earth Day 2010.  A central part of the Earth Day 2010 campaign, mayors and local government officials will host town hall meetings and events with their local constituencies to discuss and develop plans to create green jobs, attract green investment and create healthier, more sustainable cities.

20.00 - 22.00 Environmental Sustainability in cattle-raising, agriculture and timber sectors in the State of Mato Grosso



This event is organized by FAMATO (“Federation of Agriculture and Cattle Raising of the State of Mato Grosso”), APROSOJA (“Association of Soy and Corn  Producers of the State of Mato Grosso”), ACRIMAT (“Breeders Association of Mato Grosso”), CIPEM (“Center of Industries Producers and Exporters of Wood of the State of Mato Grosso").

The event presents the efforts and programs taken within the State of Mato Grosso to promote a sustainable agriculture, cattle raising and timber extraction, adopting actions and policies that combat deforestation and climate change, stressing out possibilities for implementing REDD mechanism in the region.
