Local Government Ambassadors
Local Government elected representatives can act as “Local Government Ambassadors” during COP 15. In this role, they will use each opportunity to speak and interact with COP delegates, particularly those from national delegations, and explain the local government positions to them.
This can happen in more informal situations, i.e. in the corridors and during breaks or formally on behalf of local governments in COP sessions which Local Government elected representatives have access to. Local Government Ambassadors can also support the strong voice of Local Governments at COP 15 by attending specific side events as speakers or as participants.
If you have indicated your readiness to act as an “ambassador”, you are asked to read all preparatory documents carefully, especially the Briefing Sheets and the “Local Government Responses - Input to the International Climate Negotiations” and contact the Local Government Climate Lounge Team upon your arrival. You can find these documents at www.iclei.org/climate-roadmap
Once in Copenhagen, during the daily morning briefings (8:30-9:15) you will receive the latest information available regarding the negotiations, as well as the meeting plans for each day. At the same time, we would like to ask you to share your impressions and results of your interactions with national delegations with us.
