Prior, During and Post COP 15
COP15 was a crucial step in a two-year local government process of international climate negotiations and a record number of local government (LG) representatives attended the UN Climate Change Conference (COP15) in Copenhagen in December 2009. Many of these were present as part of the Local Government Climate Roadmap process, which began at the UN Climate Change Conference in Bali in 2007 (COP13). They came to advocate for the recognition of the work and role of thousands of LGs from around the globe in the fight against climate change.
