Local governments presence at the UNFCCC Climate Change Talks in Barcelona
Local governments were present at the UNFCCC Climate Change Talks in Barcelona, Spain, from 2-6 November 2009, and continued their mobilization for a strong and comprehensive post-2012 global climate agreement. Similar to previous UNFCCC meetings, local government representatives met with national delegations in order to discuss the key role of local governments in the combat against climate change.
Furthermore, LGs hosted an exhibit on the Local Government Climate Roadmap in the Barcelona Convention Centre, the venue of the UNFCCC Talks. The exhibition presented the role that LGs play in mitigation and adaptation to Climate Change through different materials and publications.
On 5 November 2009 at 10:30, ICLEI and UCLG hosted a joint Roadmap press conference to inform on-site media about LGs involvement in international climate negotiations. For more information, please download the press release.
