Strong local and global actions to combat climate change
This section gives further information and examples of strong local actions, as well as on international local government agreements that make a strong case for local climate action and the recognition of local governments' key role in a post-2012 global climate agreement.
- Mexico City Pact - The Global Cities Covenant on Climate - "The Mexico City Pact" is a voluntary initiative of mayors and local authority representatives that aims to advance climate actions. By signing the Pact, signatories commit to 10 action points, including the reduction of emissions, adaptation to the impacts of climate change and fostering city-to-city cooperation.
