Mayors Adaptation Forum 2010 concluded with Bonn Declaration

BONN, GERMANY — Municipal leaders from around the world gathered in Bonn, Germany to launch the Mayors Adaptation Forum; the first annual platform of
the World Mayors Council on Climate Change which guides local leaders in advocacy and local adaptation practices. The Forum ran in conjunction with Resilient Cities 2010: 1st World Congress on Cities and Adaptation to Climate Change, organized by ICLEI- Local Governments for Sustainability, the City of Bonn and the World Mayors Council on Climate Change.

The Council and the World Bank convened Mayors' Roundtable Session: "Practical solutions to climate challenges in select cities"
Held on May 29 during Resilient Cities 2010, the session facilitated by Konrad von Ritter from the World Bank Institute (WBI) triggered discussion among Resilient Cities experts and a panel of prominent mayors.
The event was organized by the World Bank, the World Mayors Council on Climate Change and ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability as a contribution to Mayors' Task Force on Urban Poverty and Climate Change.

The global launch of the campaign Making cities Resilient: "My city is getting ready" took place on Sunday 30 May 2010 during the concluding plenary of Resilient Cities 2010.
