There is going to be a lot of brain storming going on at the Shaw Conference Centre this week.

Over 600 delegates from 57 countries are in Edmonton, for the ICLEI World Congress 2009.

ICLEI was founded in 1990 as the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives. Over 200 local governments from over 40 countries convened at the founding conference, the World Congress of Local Governments for a Sustainable Future, at the United Nations in New York. It takes place every three years, allowing delegates and leaders to share ideas and see what's working in other places.

The conference focuses on 'going green' and among other things, will showcase our city's River Valley, the Local Motion campaign and our recycling program. Until Thursday you can also see the "Lights Down, Stars Up" photography exhibit which is on display at City Hall. (blb, sj, ccg)
