EcoMobility

ICLEI Africa Secretariat provides strategic support for an integrated transport approach, with the aim to create linkages between ICLEI African Cities in order to promote the concept of EcoMobility and capacitate local governments to embark on EcoMobility programme and projects.

EcoMobility refers to an environmentally sustainable way of mobility that combines the use of non-motorized means of transport, such as cycling, skating or scooting and walking, with the use of public transport (described as “passenging“). In brief, EcoMobility is mobility without dependency on a private motorized vehicle such a car or a motorcycle. You can learn more about what EcoMobility encompasses and its benefits by visiting the website of Global Alliance for EcoMobility.

Projects are being implemented in Africa through ICLEI partners such as Bicycle Empowerment Network, also known as BEN, and Interface for Cycling Expertise, also known as ICE. Please contact us at www.iclei.org/africa for more information.
