African Carbon Forum

Cotonou, Benin

Under the overarching mandate of the Nairobi Framework, the 9th African Carbon Forum (ACF) 2017, organised by the UNFCCC and partners, offers a momentous opportunity and platform to discuss recent strives in climate change policy, carbon markets and finance; share knowledge on innovative solutions in the context of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and other strategies; and to explore possibilities for collaboration on regional and global climate change initiatives. The forum provides a comprehensive program for project developers and policymakers on the latest investment, finance and development opportunities relating to climate change.

Partnering with UN-Habitat and the UNFCCC in the context ACF 2017, ICLEI will host 2 workshops in the frame of enhancing local climate action and contribution to national targets. Details of the workshops are as follow:

  • 29 June 2017 at 14:00 to 15:30 (Salle Polyvalente, Ground Floor) - ICLEI-UNFCCC co-organised workshop dubbed "Exploring Pathways to Transform African Cities to Low Emission and Sustainable".
  • 30 June 2017 at 13:00 to 14:00 (meeting room TBC) – As part of the implementation of the Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa project, funded by the European Union, this workshop is set to explore the role of local and sub-national governments in supporting achievement of the NDCs via vertical integration and sharing of best practices.
