The Water Campaign™ is an international freshwater management program that aims to build the capacity of local government to reduce water consumption and improve local water quality.

- New participants: There are now 121 Australian councils participating in the Water Campaign™. We would like to welcome our newest participants: City of Fremantle, Port Pirie Regional Council, Shire of Busselton and Blue Mountains City Council.
- SA Recognition and Networking Event is on Friday 5 June, 11am -2pm at The Farm Shed Museum and Tourist Centre, Kadina. This event is for all South Australian Water Campaign councils. More information and registration form
- WA ICLEI Climate & Water Forum: Cities for Climate Protection and the Water Campaign join forces to bring you an actions oriented networking and information exchange forum! Thursday 23 April 2009. More Information
- WA Catchment Module Workshop: was held on 12th May at Peel-Waterways Centre in Mandurah. The day provided participants in this pilot program with the chance to hear from expert speakers on the project topic areas, to network and also to begin work on developing Action Plans and Project Plans. - $1 million for new Water Trust: The Federal Government has announced $1 million ofr the establishment of a new Water and Environment trust to honor the late Peter Cullen and continue to build on his legacy of natural resource management. - World Environment Day Awards 2009 Finalists Announced! The Peel-Harvey Catchment Council were finalist in the Excellence in Sustainable Water Management Award category for their implementation of the ICLEI Water Campaign™.

The Water Campaign™ is an ICLEI Oceania program delivered in collaboration with the Australian Government, the Government of Western Australia, City West Water, South East Water, Yarra Valley Water, Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board, South Australian Murray-Darling Basin Natural Resources Management Board, Northern and Yorke Natural Resources Management Board and the Central Local Government Region of South Australia.
