The Bonn 2017 Climate Summit of Local and Regional Leaders will take place on 12 November 2017. The Summit Days will cover those prior for a variety of meetings and events of and for local and regional governments as well as advocacy days after the Summit which will spread its key messages.

Pavilion: Local and Regional Governments will be present at COP23 and will showcase, exhibit, engage and collaborate throughout the two weeks.

Key dates

6–17 November 2017: Local and regional governments engage at the COP23 Negotiations and Actions Area via the Cities and Regions Pavilion.

Friday, 10 and Saturday, 11 November 2017
Special local & regional governments sessions, meetings, receptions.

Sunday, 12 November 2017:
2017 Bonn Climate Summit of Local and Regional Leaders

Monday, 13 November and Tuesday, 14 November 2017:
Advocacy and engagements in the Negotiation Zone: press conference, Champions Dialogues and side events


For the Summit, a venue close to the Negotiation Area will be selected.

The main venue of the Summit Days will be the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The Cities and Regions Pavilion will most likely be in the Action Zone.

Target groups

Local and regional leaders from all over the world are invited to join us in Bonn to demonstrate their commitments, achievements and partnerships - and to push national governments towards more ambitious climate policies and supportive framework conditions for local and regional action.

Civil society, business representatives and all partners of local and regional governments are also encouraged to join the event and connect with local and regional climate champions.
