As an official event at COP22, the Solutions Conference aimed to assist countries in the technical preparations of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Low-Emission Development Strategy (LEDS). It brought together technical experts, scientists and engineers, cities and regions, business and academia to share knowledge to identify bottlenecks and discuss best practices and prioritize future research.
The Solutions Conference took place from Nov 14-16th and marked the first time in COP history that a large-scale technical-solutions conference, hosted by the Moroccan Government, ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN) and World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), took center stage at the climate summit. For the three days, the ICLEI delegation participated in this global dialogue on best practices and innovation solutions for a low-emissions future, emphasizing the role of cities and subnational governments in climate action and urged for much closer collaboration with different actors to implement the Paris Agreement.
