A sustainable local economy improves human well being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and natural resource scarcity.
ICLEI promotes and supports the development of sustainable local economies which contribute to improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and natural resource scarcity. We believe sustainable procurement is a key tool for achieving more socially and environmentally sustainable communities by decoupling economic growth from resource consumption and environmental degradation.
